about us

Welcome to Bjornfell.

We’re a small, independent clothing store from the Lake District, North England.

In 2018 we started repairing old camping gear during our A-Levels, and since then have grown to be the largest 2nd-hand Patagonia and Arc’teryx store in the UK.

In that time we’ve raised over £2,000 for the reintroduction of British beavers, and donate 3% of every sale to the re-wilding of British wildlife.

We take all our photos in the nearby fells, and support local athletes, filmmakers and actors in all of our media.

What’s in the name?

Bjornfell translates as ‘Bear Mountain’ in Old Norse, the same language that many of the fells in the Lake District got their name from.

We chose this as it represents our vision of re-wilding in the UK.

One day, somewhere far off in the future, we hope that European brown bears roam the fells of Britain once again.

We have a lot of work to do before then. Right now we are focused on supporting the reintroduction of Eurasian lynx, a native species to Britain that went extinct 800 years ago.

Our logo was designed by Lake District artist Tristan Jumeau, and features a European brown bear with the word 'bjornfell' in Old Norse runes.

We also enjoy making films in the outdoors.

From British ski movies to small-town love stories set in the mountains, you can watch all our projects here.
